Abstract Work and Concrete Work: a rereading of the classics of Marxian theory

Abstract

Based on a rereading of the classics of Marxian theory, the article places the category of work as central in the analysis of professional work in Social Work. It affirms work in its double dimension: both work from the perspective of salaried work, limited to the determinations of capitalist society, and work as a generic human capacity for men and women to transform reality and also transform themselves. It seeks to establish mediations with the theoretical-methodological foundations that place social workers in the condition of salaried working class, and which has a normative apparatus guided by the Project ethical-political (PEP) of the Brazilian Social Service. In these terms, even if in an introductory way, the central question that permeates this article, of exploratory bibliographic analysis, is, “How to think about the materialization of the professional work of Social Work from the PEP, in a society guided by the capitalist mode of production?”
